Coastal Terrace

Coastal Terrace

To make the most of our private gardens and elevated sea view setting, we have recently unveiled a brand new outdoor wedding ceremony facility. Named the Coastal Terrace and opened in July 2017, it features a custom-made dome with open sides in front of a stone tiled terrace and decorative plants. Available for weddings from April to October, it gives couples the opportunity of saying their vows outside within the Hydro’s unique setting.

The Coastal Terrace has a capacity of up to 80 guests, with the sea making a particularly special backdrop behind the wedding couple. It is approached via a stoned tiled path for easy access and grand bridal entrance. Should the weather be inclement, the wedding ceremony can be held within the hotel.

To ensure an atmosphere can be created to suit your taste, electric points are available for music and a portable system can be provided. The relaxing setting is particularly well suited for a harpist or other live instrument with amplification. The adjacent lawn makes a great spot to have photographs and a drinks reception after the ceremony, followed by the wedding breakfast within your choice of function room.

Please call us on 01323 720643 to learn more about the Coastal Terrace or to book a private

England’s most famous battle, the battle of Hastings, took place on 14th October 1066 when King Harold of England and his army were defeated by William, Duke of Normandy. Horrified by the scale of the bloodshed, the Pope ordered the victorious French to respect the lives they had taken through some form of public penance. William subsequently decided to construct an abbey on the battle site. Today, visitors can explore the site with an audio tour, watch interactive displays and a film, plus stand on the very spot where King Harold is said to have died. The visitor centre includes a children’s discovery room and a café plus an outdoor themed playground. Battle Abbey is approximately a 35 minute drive from the Hydro.
